Focus are proud to announce that Rachel Horsepool, HR Officer is now an Associate with the CIPD after attaining the Level 3 Certificate in Human Resources Practice.
We thought it would be a great opportunity for Rachel to share what it has been like working with Focus for the past three years and how she found the course.
I started at Focus HR three years’ ago with some HR experience having come from an operational management background. Working in such a diverse environment with an outsourced HR company and supporting a wide range of businesses in different sectors, has really broadened my exposure to all things HR and payroll. Every business is unique in terms of their, values, ethos, goals, culture and strategy. They are all individual, reflecting on the overall business and working to this has allowed me to evolve and grow as an Associate CIPD member.
It’s true that you don’t know what you don’t know! Taking the CIPD Certificate in HR Practice has equipped me with more in depth specialist knowledge than I had before, as well as gaining context on HR matters across the board. The course showed me the skills, knowledge and behaviours of a true HR professional and enabled me to see what kind of practitioner I want to be.
I will continue using the HR Profession Map to identify areas for CPD now I know what I would like to achieve in my HR career which is to support and educate employers helping make employees working lives the best they can be!
I can honestly say that I love my job and working alongside the professional, supportive and fun people I work with. Monday’s aren’t a struggle for me and I look forward to getting to into the office and seeing what challenge lies in wait. I have no doubt that continuing my CIPD learning, coupled with practicing at a top outsourced HR Company, will give me the skills and experience I need to excel in my HR journey.
